John's Bar, a long time famous landmark within the Chiang Mai Bar scene. Close to Loi Kroh and Thapae Gate it is in an ideal location, therefore making it a popular haunt.
John's Bar is friendly, with company easy to find. On the ground floor there is a pool table behind the circular bar. The big screen is certain to be showing all the live football matches. For me, the best part of John's bar is on the roof top terrace, where a great view along the moat is available - when it is open.
As with most bars in Chiang Mai, food is available, with good choices.
Where is it?
Johns bar is on Moon Muang overlooking the moat, located inside the moat in between Thapae Gate and Loi Kroh Road. From Thapae Gate head south, and look out for the neon windmills on the walls. There are several great bars in the area, but John's is a good choice.
