Chang Sawasdee Bar, Chiang Mai

Chang Sawasdee Bar is a novel bar, themed on the Volkswagen Camper van. While there is an indoors section to the bar, most of the bar sprawls around a couple of camper vans parked on the street outside.

As you can see from the lettering on the logo, perhaps the target market of Chang Sawasdee Bar is the young Thai community, but that just makes it an even more refreshing place to hang out. Its located by J.J. Market, in a 'trendy' zone to the north of Chiang Mai. To get there, head north from the north east corner of the moat, and you'll spot the distinctive orange camper vans on the right handside not far before you reach Tesco Lotus and the super highway.

Wooden chairs and tables come out of the main bar to provide plenty of spaces to sit and chat in the cool evening. Not a place to go when its raining though, as there isn't a lot of space inside. Music from all the surrounding bars can sometimes compete, providing a wide variety of music tastes to listen to.

There are a few bars in this area, sharing the facilities of the Wawee Coffee Shop. While during the day the area is a trendy marketplace, at night it comes alive with the bars spreading onto the street.
