The opening hole at Highlands is a par 4 which follows the side of the driving range before doglegging left around the end. Numerous bunkers litter the area around the corner on the left, so keep your tee shot straight and don’t be tempted to cut the corner. Although there is space between the bunkers and the driving range for those determined to take a risk. The approach shot needs to thread its way between the bunkers to the green. A steep slope separates two tiers on the green, so make sure you get on the right part of the green – do so and this is a relatively safe opener. If you get stuck on the wrong part of the green it can be very difficult to leave your putt close to the hole.
